I am a Cat Lady

Good Afternoon, Gals! I have completed a really fun quilt that has a lot of fun techniques.
The cats are paper pieced and the little kitty face is embroidered.

Fluffy Yarn
The yarn balls are "fluffy" and have a bit of extra wool batting underneath the quilting (thanks to Jo Schreiber  of MoonBearDesigns for the suggestion) and the quilting pattern is "Mid Century Modern" which really is a good fit with the yarn and string motif. The quilt finishes at 60 x 60.

nice modern motif

I made this quilt as a shop sample for Honey Run Quilters, and pestered Ronda until I got to help pick some fabrics from the Cotton and Steel lines. It is a lot harder than you might imagine to make those decisions! I am always looking to make things my own, so although I used many of Sarah's Cat Lady fabrics, I also added in a perfect piece from Sarah Holland from Art Gallery Quilts line Sketchbook. A few pieces of a pale silver pink dupioni silk are also a good way to make it sparkle.

The pattern is a free download thanks to Sarah Watts and Cotton & Steel.  You can find it here if you'd like to make your own.

Cats always love a sunny spot!
I am entering Cat Lady in the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show this year, so if you are there for the show you can look for it!

  1. This is sew adorable! I'm thinking I need to make one too.

  2. How fun to see your quilt up in Honey Run Quilter's booth in Redding this weekend! The Cat Lady was fun to quilt, thank you, for the nod too.
Brandie, I'm thinking you need to make one too!!! :0)
